Knives

The Henkel set have all you will need for a good kitchen set.  German steel, full tang, and your professional sharpener will appreciate that there is no bolster.

Global was first brought to my attention by Anthony Bourdain.  After feeling them, I appreciate their build quality, weight, and one-piece stainless-steel construction. They don't feel like a traditional German-style kitchen knife, so they're worth handling before you commit—but if you like that lighter feel, they're an excellent working knife.

Miyabi are just beautiful, good-working Japanese knives.  If you're looking for a work of art that will also work in your kitchen, go for Miyabi.

Honing Steel

The Sharpeak will do fine to keep your kitchen set sharp between professional servicing.

Dexter Russel is a brand trusted by professional kitchens so it will last for along time even if used daily.

F. Dick is a name recognized in the butcher and premium chef industry.  If you want a premium steel, F. Dick is for you.

Magnetic Knife Holder

Here's three options for a magnetic knife holder.  Knife blocks hold your knives in stale air which can cause bacteria growth and increase rust if not maintained properly.  Magnetic knife holders are just plain better.

The first one is for mounting on the wall.  Multiple mounting options, 16in in length, and it comes with hooks for other kitchen tools.

The better one is for displaying your knives on the counter.  They're more accessible and if you paid a premium for them, they should be displayed.

Speaking of a display, the premium magnetic holder has a gorgeous acrylic and live wood combination that makes it look like more like art than function.  BUT it will securely hold your knives when you're not using them.
